German parliament to vote on camera requirement at large slaughterhouses
Open post in TelegramThe Bundestag is due to vote this evening on changes to the Animal Welfare Act.
The proposal would require large slaughterhouses to install cameras. Smaller slaughterhouses and butchers would be exempt if they slaughter fewer than 1,000 livestock units a year. The recordings would have to be kept for 30 slaughter days and made available to the competent inspection authority.
